Why the other options are wrong:

• construction work on King Street East.: Construction work on King Street East is not discussed.
• a decline in attendance at local farmers markets.: The report does not describe falling attendance. It says the expanded hours respond to growing demand and strong interest in the evening-shopping pilot.
• a new parking policy near the Kitchener Market.: The report says there will be no additional parking fees during the new hours. That is a supporting detail; the main topic is the market's expanded opening schedule.

Correct Answer: on Thursdays from late afternoon to evening.

Why this is correct: The transcript says the market will also open on Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. This is late afternoon to evening on Thursdays.

Why the other options are wrong:

• on Sundays from morning until noon.: Sundays are not mentioned in the new schedule.
• on Fridays during regular business hours.: Fridays during regular business hours are not mentioned.
• every weekday in the afternoon.: The market is not opening every weekday - only Thursday evenings are added.

Correct Answer: are unable to visit during regular daytime hours.

Why this is correct: Market manager Paul Reinhardt said the extended hours are meant to make the market more accessible. He noted that many residents work regular daytime hours and appreciate the chance to shop after work. The new hours help people who cannot visit during the day.

Why the other options are wrong:

• prefer shopping on weekend mornings.: People who prefer weekend mornings can already attend the Saturday hours.
• mainly buy prepared foods and produce.: Prepared foods and produce saw higher sales, but the hours are designed for people who work during the day.
• live outside the Kitchener region.: People living outside the Kitchener region are not mentioned as the target group.

Correct Answer: live local music.

Why this is correct: Reinhardt said the market will feature live local music on Thursday evenings to create a welcoming community atmosphere. The stated feature is live local music.

Why the other options are wrong:

• cooking demonstrations by vendors.: Cooking demonstrations are not reported as a Thursday-evening feature. Reinhardt names live local music.
• free workshops on growing vegetables.: Free vegetable-growing workshops are not mentioned. The added Thursday-evening activity Reinhardt describes is live local music.
• guided tours of the market.: Guided market tours are not reported. Reinhardt says Thursday evenings will feature live local music.

Correct Answer: reviewing attendance numbers in September.

Why this is correct: The transcript says officials will review attendance numbers in September before deciding whether to make the schedule permanent. This means the city will look at the data from the summer before making a final decision.

Why the other options are wrong:

• adding new parking fees downtown.: Adding new parking fees is not mentioned as a factor.
• receiving approval from the province.: Provincial approval is not mentioned as a requirement.
• holding its review in July.: The review is scheduled for September. The report does not describe a July review as the basis for deciding whether to make the hours permanent.
