The aim of this report is to examine the sales of two types of shopping bags, namely single-use plastic and reusable shopping bags in Moreton area over the past 8 years, focusing on its main trends, causes, and two-year prediction. Overall, it is evident that single-use bags experienced a gradual downward trend decreasing from 70,000 to 18,000. In contrast, reusable bags showed a dramatic surge, rising sharply from 3,000 to 22,000. This trend can largely be attributed to introduction of two government policies after the year 4 and the year 8. For instance, government passed a law to charge a penalty of 5p on the use of single use bags after the year 4, which resulted in the increase sale of reusable bags among public. Moreover, after the 8 year, governement is planning to double the penalty on the usage of single-use plastic bags. Collectively, these factors contributed to the overall decline of single time plastic bags. Over the next two years, it is predicted that the sales of reusable bags will rise due to implementaion of government laws and increased awarness among public.
