My next contribution to New Zealand's super diverse future. The status quo is not sustainable. Super diversity stock take, which I will talk to you about now, is designed to help us to adapt to a super diverse New Zealand, to make sure that we are fit for the future.

Because New Zealand is super diverse right now, predominantly in Auckland, but actually throughout New Zealand. Here, we're already 50% M?ori Pacifica and Asian, 44% are not born in New Zealand. And we have over 200 ethnicities.

Now the definition academically of super diversity is 25% not born in New Zealand, 100 ethnicities. So we are almost double that number already. And Auckland will continue to become younger and browner as the Anglo -Saxon population ages and shrinks.

So the megatrend here is not age. And the megatrend here is not urbanisation, the megatrend is demography, it's ethnicity. And we need to get our head around that because most of the benefits from super diversity that we as a country are enjoying at the moment, such as greater innovation, productivity and investment increase New Zealand's financial capital, whereas most of the challenges from super diversity adversely affect New Zealand's social capital.

However, if you don't mitigate the challenges to your social capital, you are not going to maximise sustainably the diversity dividend benefits for your financial capital.

Option 2: "New Zealand is a super diverse country, and Auckland will continue to become younger and browner, leading to the mega-trend of demography. Although the benefits can increase New Zealand’s financial capital, the challenges also adversely affect New Zealand’s social capital."

Explanation: This option accurately summarizes the text by highlighting New Zealand's super-diversity, the demographic trends in Auckland, and the dual nature of benefits and challenges related to financial and social capital. It captures the essence of the text's main ideas and logical structure.

Option 1: "Now the definition academically of super-diversity is 5 percent are born in New Zealand a hundred ethnicities. They are almost double that number already. Hence, New Zealand is progressing."

Explanation: This option incorrectly states that the definition of super-diversity is 5 percent not born in New Zealand, which contradicts the text that specifies 25 percent. Additionally, it fails to capture the main themes of the text regarding the benefits and challenges of super-diversity.

Option 3: "If you don’t mitigate the challenges to your social capital in New Zealand, you are not gonna maximize sustainably the diversity dividing benefits for your financial capital."

Explanation: While this option reflects a key point from the text, it is too narrow and does not encompass the broader themes of super-diversity and demographic trends. It focuses solely on the mitigation of challenges without addressing the overall context of benefits and the demographic megatrend.

Option 4: "New Zealand is super diverse right now. Predominantly in Auckland, we are already 50 percent Maori, Pacifican and Asian. 44 percent are not born in New Zealand."

Explanation: This option provides specific statistics from the text but lacks a comprehensive summary of the main ideas. It does not address the implications of super-diversity or the balance of benefits and challenges, making it an incomplete representation of the text.
