At the top, you would have a king. Now the king would rule over a kingdom. Now, this is not so easy to govern especially during the middle Ages. And the king might owe many people, things especially people who help the king come to power, helped him dispose of the previous king or to conquer this land. And so in exchange for that and to help govern, he might grant land or feasts to other people. And the key currency in the Middle Ages under the feudal system island. And land in exchange for loyalty and service. So this whole thing is a kingdom. Now right over here, this is a Duchy. And a Duchy will be controlled by a Duke. I guess I didn't call it duckie because that justice doesn't sound as serious. So the king might grant a Duchy, a Duchy to a Duke and in exchange, the Duke would provide loyalty pledged their fealty. If the kingdom is threatened, the Duke will fight alongside.

Printed "command", the speaker says "rule"

Explanation: Listen again to "king would rule over". Both words start with different letters, so listen to the start of the word.

Printed "early", the speaker says "middle"

Explanation: In the audio you hear "during the middle Ages". The two words start with different letters, so listen from the beginning.

Printed "new", the speaker says "previous"

Explanation: Here the speaker says "the previous king". The printed word is much shorter, so the spoken word is clearly longer.

Printed "old", the speaker says "key"

Explanation: The speaker says "the key currency", not "old". The first letters differ, so wait for the word start to tell them apart.

Printed "now", the speaker says "justice"

Explanation: Listen for "that justice doesn't sound". The printed word is short, but the spoken word is longer, so listen to the whole phrase.

Printed "has", the speaker says "might"

Explanation: You will hear "the king might grant". The printed and spoken words start with different letters, so listen to the start of the word.

Printed "king", the speaker says "kingdom"

Explanation: On the recording the words are "the kingdom is threatened". Both words start with the same letter, so listen to the middle or end of the word.

"Duchy" matches the audio

Explanation: "this is a Duchy" may look odd, but it matches the audio exactly. Do not click it.

"fealty" matches the audio

Explanation: "pledged their fealty" looks rare, yet the speaker says it as printed. Do not click it.
