Transcript:
Energy and nitrogen are other types of components that belong to the category of abiotic. Biotics and abiotics both interact together to smoothen the functioning of an ecosystem. The food chain is an important part of an ecosystem. Biotic and abiotic factors both contribute to it. The plants prepare food with the help of sunlight, water, minerals and carbon dioxide. These plants are eaten by herbivorous animals which are plant eaters. Further, they become the food for carnivorous animals. Man stands at the top of the food chain and is called the ultimate consumer. During this whole process, the transfer of energy takes place in every stage. Plants render oxygen to the animals and man. In return, animals and man exhale carbon dioxide which is taken up by the plants.
As per the recording, what do the primary producers pass on to the consumers?

Option 2: "Nitrogen"
Explanation: The text mentions that energy and nitrogen are types of components that belong to the abiotic category. While it does not explicitly state that nitrogen is passed on to consumers, it is implied that nitrogen is part of the nutrients that support the food chain, making this option correct.
Option 1: "Oxygen"
Explanation: The text states that plants render oxygen to animals and humans, but it does not indicate that oxygen is passed on to consumers as a primary producer's contribution to the food chain. Therefore, this option is not supported by the text.
Option 3: "Microbes"
Explanation: Microbes are mentioned as part of biotic components, but the text does not indicate that they are passed on to consumers. This option is incorrect as it does not align with the primary producers' contributions to consumers.
Option 4: "Energy"
Explanation: The text clearly states that energy is transferred at every stage of the food chain, indicating that primary producers pass on energy to consumers. This makes this option correct as it directly relates to the functioning of the ecosystem.
Option 5: "Minerals"
Explanation: While minerals are mentioned in the context of what plants need to prepare food, the text does not specify that minerals are passed on to consumers. Thus, this option is not supported by the text.
