Paragraph list

Lunenburg is south from Halifax, along a foggy coast of rocky coves, fishing villages, and historic towns.
It is a beautiful little shipbuilding town and a UNESCO World Heritage side.
Lunenburg still has many wooden buildings and as a result feels like an 18th century British colonial town.
You can visit the town’s Fisheries Museum or just wander around, looking at the wooden houses in the old streets – and of course have a dinner of halibut or haddock, mussels or lobster.
Fishing has always been big in Lunenburg: most of Atlantic Canada’s deep-sea fishing boats leave from here, and North America’s biggest fish-processing factory is located in the town.

First sentence: Why this is the first line? This paragraph is the first sentence because it introduces Lunenburg and gives a general idea about its location and features. It does not refer to any previous information. It sets the scene for the rest of the text. Why other lines are not chosen? Paragraph 2 starts with "It" which is a pronoun and needs context. Paragraph 3 starts with "Fishing" which is too specific and does not introduce the topic. Paragraph 4 starts with "You" which is also too specific. Paragraph 5 starts with "You" and is not general enough to be the first sentence.

Concluding sentence: Why this is the last line? This paragraph is the last sentence because it wraps up the text by giving activities to do in Lunenburg. It summarizes the main points about the town and provides a conclusion.

Paragraph pairs:

  • Pair 1 (Paragraph 1 → Paragraph 2): Paragraph 2 connects to Paragraph 1 because it continues to describe Lunenburg. The phrase "It is a beautiful little shipbuilding town" gives more details about the town mentioned in Paragraph 1. This follows the Broader to Specific Strategy.
  • Pair 2 (Paragraph 2 → Paragraph 3): Paragraph 3 connects to Paragraph 2 because it talks about an important part of Lunenburg's identity, which is fishing. This shows a Logical Order as it explains why the town is significant.
  • Pair 3 (Paragraph 3 → Paragraph 4): Paragraph 4 connects to Paragraph 3 because it describes the town's historical buildings, which relate to its fishing history. The phrase "as a result" shows a cause and effect relationship.
  • Pair 4 (Paragraph 4 → Paragraph 5): Paragraph 5 connects to Paragraph 4 because it gives suggestions on what to do in Lunenburg, which includes the wooden buildings mentioned before. This follows the Topic Example Strategy.
