Instructions ›
You will hear a recording about a topic. At the end of the recording the last word or group of words has been replaced by a beep. Select the correct option to complete the recording.
Not all wild animals can become domestic animals. In fact, only fourteen species are fully domestic. According to one scientist, he says that six things must be true before IT can happen. WIThout these six things, IT’s impossible for an animal to become domestic. Firstly, the animal must eat inexpensive food that's readily available, so humans can feed it easily. Secondly, the animal must grow fast, because slow growing animals are unhelpful to humans. It also needs to breed easily. If the animal doesn’t have babies, the species will soon disappear. The animals shouldn’t be frightened when placed in a small space, because this is dangerous to humans. Finally, it helps if the animal lives in a group in its natural environment. If the group has a social structure, the human can become its leader. If one animal in the group accepts the human as leader, the others will probably.

Option 2: "follow"

Explanation: The correct answer is 'follow' because the text states that if one animal in the group accepts the human as leader, the others will probably follow. This aligns perfectly with the context of the sentence, indicating the action that the other animals would take in relation to the leader.

Option 1: "accept"

Explanation: While the text mentions that if one animal accepts the human as leader, the others will probably follow, the word 'accept' does not fit the context of the sentence that requires a verb indicating action taken by the other animals. Therefore, it does not convey the intended meaning of the sentence.

Option 3: "repeat"

Explanation: The option 'repeat' does not fit the context of the sentence. The text does not suggest that the animals would mimic or repeat actions; rather, it discusses their behavior in relation to leadership. Thus, it is not relevant to the meaning conveyed.

Option 4: "continue"

Explanation: The word 'continue' does not accurately reflect the action described in the text. The context is about following a leader, not persisting in an action. Therefore, it does not align with the intended meaning of the sentence.
