Instructions ›
You will hear a recording about a topic. At the end of the recording the last word or group of words has been replaced by a beep. Select the correct option to complete the recording.
I don't understand road rage. It is a problem that is getting worse all over the world. People are turning into monsters when they get behind the wheel of a car. They think the road belongs to them. They think they don’t have to follow speed limits or consider other drivers. I wonder why this is. What is it about cars and driving that turns normal people into maniacs? Some people simply hoot and shake their fists. The funny thing is that they also do the same things to make other drivers angry. Serious road rage happens when someone gets out of their car and gets angry. They can punch the other diver and sometimes even kill them. Why would you want to kill someone because they overtook you?crazy

Option 3: "crazy"

Explanation: The word 'crazy' effectively conveys the irrational behavior associated with road rage, as highlighted in the text. The author questions why normal people become maniacs when driving, and 'crazy' encapsulates this transformation, making it the most fitting choice.

Option 1: "Funny"

Explanation: While the text mentions that 'the funny thing is that they also do the same things to make other drivers angry,' the word 'funny' does not capture the overall tone of the passage, which discusses the serious issue of road rage. Therefore, it does not fit the context of the missing word.

Option 2: "cool"

Explanation: The term 'cool' does not align with the negative connotation of road rage described in the text. The passage emphasizes the alarming transformation of drivers into aggressive individuals, making 'cool' an inappropriate choice.

Option 4: "Amazing"

Explanation: The word 'amazing' is contradictory to the context of the passage, which discusses the troubling phenomenon of road rage. The text does not present road rage as something positive or admirable, thus making 'amazing' an unsuitable option.
