Option 3: "validated"

Explanation: The term 'validated' directly connects to the main idea of the text, which emphasizes the need to seek multiple sources to confirm information. This aligns with the author's argument about the responsibility of individuals to filter and verify the information they encounter online.

Option 1: "skeptical"

Explanation: While being 'skeptical' is a key theme in the text, it does not fit the context of the sentence that requires a word related to the validation of information. The text emphasizes the need for validation of sources rather than just skepticism.

Option 2: "important"

Explanation: The word 'important' does not align with the context of the sentence, which focuses on the necessity of validating information. Although the text discusses the importance of science, it does not directly relate to the completion of the sentence.

Option 4: "assassinated"

Explanation: The word 'assassinated' is completely unrelated to the context of the text. It does not pertain to the themes of skepticism or validation of information, making it an irrelevant choice for completing the sentence.
