Practice Listening: Select Missing Word ID: #36775 Short Child psychology
Instructions ›
You will hear a recording about a topic. At the end of the recording the last word or group of words has been replaced by a beep. Select the correct option to complete the recording.
I'd like to know more about psychology. I think it's a very interesting subject to study. I'd like to know why I do the things I do. Looking at how the brain works and how we behave might make me understand people more. I'd particularly like to study child psychology. I love looking at children, playing thinking, drawing, doing anything, really. But what makes them tick? What goes on in their little minds? Or perhaps I should say their big minds. If we all knew more about child psychology, perhaps we could do more to be a positive influence on children. Being a psychologist must be a very interesting job, listening to people talk all day and then analyzing their behavior. I wonder if they ever get.

Option 3: "bored"

Explanation: This option fits the context as the speaker wonders about the job of a psychologist and implies that listening to people all day could lead to boredom, especially if it becomes routine. This aligns with the reflective tone of the text.

Option 1: "disapointed"

Explanation: This option suggests a negative feeling, which does not align with the overall positive tone of the text. The speaker expresses interest and curiosity about psychology, making 'disappointed' an illogical choice.

Option 2: "excited"

Explanation: While 'excited' could fit the context of someone interested in psychology, it does not match the concluding thought of the speaker, who seems to ponder the challenges of the profession rather than express excitement.

Option 4: "success"

Explanation: This option does not fit the context of the speaker's thoughts. The text does not discuss success in relation to being a psychologist, making this option irrelevant to the main idea presented.
