Instructions ›
Listen to the recording and answer the multiple-choice question by selecting the correct response. Only one response is correct.
I can give you an anecdote about my personal experience. Two years ago, we wrote a paper on the benefit of vigorous intensity, physical activity, and that paper received a lot of media; and then, 70% of them reported wrongly, and we actually did a content analysis, a little bit interested in, you know, what sort of media reported correctly; and was or media reported incorrectly, and you know we did find that, you know, with media sources, like New York Times and Times Magazine, The Economist, they actually had proper interview with us and they asked us to clarify and they did their background research. So, it's a lot more likely to be right and then Daily Telegraph was one of the worst ones, that's surprising one, but the audience here probably, I would say, don't read. So we we do see significant differences in terms of the sources and the the correctness of their reporting. But I can only say that the case example of the one specific paper. Different outlets reporting on the single paper and we can't expect the audience to fact check everything that they get in the media, just an anecdote!

According to the speaker, which factor contributed to the accurate reporting of the paper on vigorous intensity physical activity by some media sources?

Option 3: "The size of the audience for each media source"

Explanation: The text does not discuss the size of the audience as a factor influencing the accuracy of reporting. The focus is on the media sources' practices rather than their audience size.

Option 4: "The author has personal preferences for media sources"

Explanation: While the speaker mentions their personal experience, they do not indicate personal preferences as a reason for accurate reporting. The emphasis is on the practices of the media sources rather than the speaker's preferences.
