Paragraph list

Which the academy President Ray Page insisted upon in the event the novice flyer were to damage the school’s only trainer in the process.
To both gain some needed flight experience and earn money for additional instruction, Lindbergh left Montana in June to spend the next few months barnstorming across Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, as a wing walker and parachutist with E.G. Bahl and later H.L. Lynch.
During this time, he also briefly held a job as an aeroplane mechanic in Billings, Montana, working at the Billings Municipal Airport (later renamed Billings Logan International Airport.
A few days later, Lindbergh took his first formal flying lesson in that same machine with instructor-pilot Ira Biffle, although the then 20-year-old student pilot was never permitted to “solo” during his time at the school because he could not afford to post a bond.

First sentence: Why this is the first line? This paragraph is the first line because it introduces the main event. It tells us about Lindbergh's first flying lesson. This is a clear start to the story. It does not use any words that need earlier sentences for meaning. Why other lines are not chosen? Paragraph 2 starts with "Which" and needs more context. Paragraph 3 starts with "To both" and is not a general statement. Paragraph 4 starts with "During this time" and also needs earlier sentences for context.

Concluding sentence: Why this is the last line? This paragraph is the last line because it wraps up Lindbergh's activities. It gives a final detail about his job as a mechanic. This shows the end of the story about his early flying experiences.

Paragraph pairs:

  • Pair 1 (Paragraph 1 → Paragraph 2): Paragraph 2 connects to Paragraph 1 because it explains a rule from the academy. The phrase "Which the academy President Ray Page insisted upon" refers back to the flying lesson. This shows a cause and effect relationship.
  • Pair 2 (Paragraph 2 → Paragraph 3): Paragraph 3 connects to Paragraph 2 because it shows what Lindbergh did next. The phrase "To both gain some needed flight experience" explains why he left Montana. This shows a logical order of events.
  • Pair 3 (Paragraph 3 → Paragraph 4): Paragraph 4 connects to Paragraph 3 because it continues the story of Lindbergh's activities. The phrase "During this time" shows that he was doing both things at once. This is a chronological order.
